Hi Everyone,
My name is Paul Walker and I am responsible for this blog. As stated already, my goal is to provide valuable, relevant and instructional content that is focused on Shotokan karate.
In addition to this blog I have several other projects and contributions to the Shotokan world. Here they are in no particular order:
Lessons with the Master
In June 2007, I published my first book - Lessons with the Master: 279 Shotokan Karate Lessons with Master Hirokazu Kanazawa. The book is essentially my training diary from my three years of living and training in Japan at Master Hirokazu Kanazawa's Headquarters Dojo. In addition, it tells some stories of the overall experience of living and training in Japan and offers many training and teaching tips as well as a clear account of what training in a traditional Japanese dojo looks like.
Lessons with the Master is available from Amazon. Follow the link to the left.
There is also a book website at www.lessonswiththemaster.com.
Online Dojo
At www.shotokansensei.com I am currently developing an Online Dojo that will offer instructional videos on all aspects of Shotokan karate, including Kihon, Kata, Kumite, Testing, Ideas and Concepts. Several sample videos are available on my YouTube channel (See the next project below.)
The Online Dojo at www.shotokansensei.com will be a membership site and full details can be found at the actual site. It has not yet been launched but will be "live" very soon.
Shotokan Sensei YouTube Channel
There is now a Shotokan Sensei YouTube channel that showcases some sample videos of the Online Dojo as a preview of the actual member website. These videos are of course offered for free on YouTube but are just a sampling of the overall product that you will find within the Online Dojo. To visit my YouTube channel, just follow this link:

Seishin Shotokan Karate Dojo
In addition to the projects listed above, I also run my own dojo in Apple Valley, California. The name of my dojo is Seishin Shotokan Karate. I chose the name "Seishin" to represent my dojo because I once asked my sensei, Master Kanazawa, what he thought was the most important quality in karate. He replied very simply, "Seishin", which means "Spirit". Consequently my dojo was named Seishin Shotokan Karate. The direct translation would be "Spirit Shotokan Karate", which I don't like. I prefer to think that my dojo represents more the overall "Spirit of Shotokan" which would actually be expressed as "Shotokan no seishin" in Japanese.

So as you can see I have a few projects on the go. Updates on these projects will be posted on the blog as they happen and this particular page will be updated appropriately.
Thank you for your interest in this blog and in these projects.
Osu,
Paul Walker
